President Jonathan Suffers Huge Loss As Support Group National Coordinator Defects With Thousands To APC

As the country’s Presidential election draws nearer with the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) intensifying its campaign to re-elect, President Goodluck Jonathan, the National Coordinator for Jonathan, support group, (Jonathan Shall Lead Again), (JOSLA) has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to Daily Trust, Comrade Curtis Ugbo, nicknamed the ‘peoples Speaker’ who abandoned Jonathan and declared support for the APC presidential candidate General Muhammadu Buhari, defected with thousands of his supporters on Thursday.

He cited insincerity on the part of the leaders of the Edo State chapter of the PDP as the major reason for their action.

Ugbo revealed to newsmen that his members who mobilized towards the successful campaign rally for President Jonathan were dumped.

“As you are aware am the BOT Chairman and grant patron of Jonathan Shall Lead Again Movement with structure across the country we have been supporting Jonathan’s re-election since 2012 but here in Edo state I discovered that the PDP leaders have not been carrying people along. PDP in Edo state is in wrong hands, the party never shows any appreciation. What will the PDP leaders attract or do for the people with their billions? What kind of leaders are they?

When asked about Buhari’s chances of winning in the March 28 presidential election, Ugbo said: “Buhari is going to win the election and we are going to give him our total support, so those who are making noise about his age are just playing politics. Buhari’s intelligence is what counts, this is a man that has ruled us before, so age has nothing to do with it. Politicians always look for mundane things to criticise their opponent.”

The ruling PDP has continued to suffer loss in Edo State as over 1000 members of the party in Igueben local government area of the state had on Thursday, March 5, 2015, defected to the opposition party, APC .

A former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ghali Na’Abba, on Wednesday, March 18, 2015, gave his reasons for dumping the PDP for the APC, but the Kano State of PDP has described the defection of the former speaker, Na’Abba, as a non-issue saying:“ he was of no value aside the relics of him serving an office.”
