The PDP chieftain, Senator Ayo Arise, who was on a Channels Television breakfast programme, Sunrise Daily, monitored in Ado-Ekiti, disagreed with Governor Fayose on his attacks on the person of Buhari.
Speaking during the programme on Monday, Arise, who represented Ekiti North in the Senate between 2007 and 2011 said although Fayose is entitled to his opinion, he is not speaking for the party.
He condemned the hate campaign mounted by Governor Fayose, pointing out that what is needed is for the ruling party members to work for the victory of its candidate President Goodluck Jonathan in the March 28 presidential poll.
“Our party has come out strongly to say that Fayose is not speaking for the party. So, I won’t say he is not entitled to his opinion at this level. But left to me as an individual, I disagree with him on this. I believe we don‘t need such in the PDP, all we need is to work hard and campaign for Mr. President to win the election fair and square,” he said.
The senator while speaking on insurgency and dwindling fortunes of the economy; he argued that President Jonathan cannot be alleged to have been solely responsible for the current crises bedeviling the country.

Arise, who was also the former Chairman of Senate Committee on Privatization further stated that while he agreed with some analysts that failure of the past leaders led to the insurgency in the Northeastern part of the country, reiterated that Mr. President should not be solely held responsible for the Boko Haram insurgency.
The PDP bigwig while campaigning for Jonathan’s re-election said Mr. President deserves a second term based on the various achievements recorded in the last five years.

“Among all these contenders, President Jonathan stands tall above others. This does not suggest that I am casting aspersion on other candidates or reducing their competencies. Our President is not the type who believes in media propaganda about achievements while in office because he believes the primary aim of any government is to provide basic amenities like good roads, robust housing sector and well paid employment,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ekiti State chapter of the APC has said the fear of the unknown is the motivating factor behind Governor Fayose death-wish for, Gen. Buhari.
Recall that Fayose has been a die hard follower of Jonathan and very critical of his major opponent Buhari, a development that even made him published series of advertisements criticising Buhari‘s age and his ill-fated spell as Nigeria’s military head of state.
But, in spite of all these, Fayose, in an Exclusive Interview, opened up and gave reasons for his action against Buhari.
