The church of England has appointed a 48-year-old woman named Reverend Libby Lane, as the first female Bishop ever.
Rev. Lane is set to be consecrated as the new and the eighth Bishop of Stockport at York Minster on Monday, January 26, 2015 according to Daily Star.
Speaking about her historic nomination, she said, “I am very conscious of all those who have gone before me, women and men, who for decades have looked forward to this moment.
“But most of all I am thankful to God.”
In a congratulatory message, British Prime Minister,David Cameron said, “Congratulations. An historic appointment and important day for equality.”
