Church Robbery Thwarted By Police In Lagos

A planned robbery on a church along Igando-Ikotun Road was on Sunday, October 26, 2014 foiled by operatives of the Nigerian police, according to a Punch report.

The incident, which happened at the end of an evening service at the unnamed church close to Grammar School bus stop was foiled when police attached to the Igando Division stormed the scene, recovering one locally made gun in the process.
The church was said to be holding its annual convention, drawing a large amount of people which must made the hoodlums see it as an easy catch as fleets of vehicles were said to be at the church premises.

Kenneth Nwosu, the Lagos State Police public Relations Officer who confirmed the incident said: “Around 10.30pm, policemen attached to the Igando Division responded to a distress call, and recovered one locally-made pistol abandoned by some hoodlums beside a motorcycle. The hoodlums had attempted to rob the church.”
