News coming in states that Boko Haram has taken Maiha Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
Sahara Reports are saying that the militants started their invasion around 5:30pm as security personnel left their post to Belel district, about 48km away.
One source on ground says that the many soldiers and two unarmed civilians are dead and many are badly injured.
Reports also suggest that many persons fleeing Maiha and nearby Belel are crossing the border to Cameroon.
“The insurgents have full control of Maiha,” another resident told reporters. “People of Belel and others are crossing the border to Cameroon, which is not more than a kilometer to cross.”
This comes as a surprise after over 60 insurgents were killed on the weekend by the military and mobile police in mubi.
Boko Haram had today allegedly planted a suicide bomber at the All Boys Government Technical Secondary School, Potiskum in Yobe State, the subsequent explosion has killed over 47 people and left many injured
