Roy Keane has said that he regrets apologizing to Sir Alex Ferguson and Carlos Queiroz, over the dispute that saw him leave Manchester United after 12 years.
The former captain of the Old Trafford club, left after an interview with MUTV, where he tore into a number of United stars, including John O’Shea, Alan Smith and Rio Ferdinand.
He was then summoned to a meeting with Ferguson and chief executive David Gill, who told him he could leave the club.
Keane was now revealed in his new autobiography, The Second Half, that he regrets saying sorry to the former United manager and his assistant.
“Now I kind of wish I hadn’t. Afterwards I was thinking, “I’m not sure why I f***** apologised.” I just wanted to do the right thing. I was apologising for what had happened – that it had happened,” he wrote.
“But I wasn’t apologising for my behaviour or stance. There is a difference – I had nothing to apologise for.”
