Contrary to report published by some newspapers and online publications Sunday afternoon that two persons were injured when the convoy of the state governor, Ibikunle Amosun was involved in an accident. An aide of the governor disclosed to our correspondent that no one was injured in the accident.
It would be recalled that the news of the governor’s convoy was involved in an accident along Lagos-Ibadan expressway leaving few people including governor’s aides sustaining injuries.
Speaking with our correspondent, Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Communication, Mrs Olufunmilayo Wakama disclosed that there was no iota of truth in the report as no one was injured and the so called acccident was not as bad as it was reported.
She however charged reporters to always confirm their reports before publishing, warning that the dignity and integrity of the pen profession should not be spoilt.

“Let me thank everybody for their concern following accident. I want to set the records straight that Mr Governor is hale and hearthy and no one in the convoy sustained any injury.

“I have stated it clear to all of them that it was just a brush and nothing more. We are the watchdog of the people and we must not write or say what is not correct. No one was injured in the convoy of His Excellency today, that I can confirm to you. I thank you for your patience,” Wakama said.
An eyewitness told our correspondent that the incident occurred at Saapade-Ogeere road along Lagos-Ibadan expressway around 9:30 a.m., when a commercial bus rammed into the governor’s convoy, damaging one of the jeeps in the convoy.
It was gathered that the governor’s convoy was heading towards Ibadan while the bus was coming from Ibadan before they had a head-on collision.
According to the eye witness, the occupants of the commercial bus comprised aged women and children.
The state Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Alhaji Yussuph Olaniyonu, who our correspondent gathered was part of the governor’s entourage corroborated the claims of Wakama. He was quoted to have confirmed the incident and dislclosed that no one sustain any injury during the incident.
